Edward Jones Pledges $1 Million-plus for Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief

Dino Guzzetti of the St. Louis-based financial-services firm Edward Jones announced today that him firm has made contributions totaling more than $1 million to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina that devastated the Gulf Coast. The firm will donate $250,000 directly to the American Red Cross and an additional $750,000 to Red Cross relief efforts in communities where Edward Jones branches are located. The firm also is matching its associates' donations to the American Red Cross and intends to collect client donations to the relief effort. "This is a tragedy that hits close to home for all of us," Guzzetti said. "We have branch offices located in the Gulf Coast, and our investment representatives and their staffs work and live in the area. We hope this donation can help ease the suffering of our friends, neighbors, colleagues and clients." Edward Jones Managing Partner Douglas E. Hill said, "The residents of these communities are suffering through one of the most devastating natural disasters in our nation's history, and our thoughts and prayers are with them. The contributions are intended to help disaster victims in general as well as targeting those places where the firm has branch offices. "We're a part of these communities and wanted to do our part. The people impacted are our friends and family, as well as our customers," Hill said. In addition to the contributions to the Red Cross, Edward Jones is offering financial assistance, housing and other forms of assistance to its associates impacted by the hurricane. Edward Jones has a tradition of helping those recovering from disasters. The firm contributed to relief efforts for survivors of the September 11 attacks, the hurricanes that struck Florida last year and the Oklahoma City bombings in 1995.
